Registered Aboriginal Parties

This data set contains polygon boundaries for Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs) that have been recognised under The Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (the Act) “as the primary guardians, keepers and knowledge holders of Aboriginal cultural heritage”. These boundaries have been determined by Aboriginal communities and the Heritage Council. Initial verbal descriptions and/or hand drawn maps were provided by Aboriginal Communities of their boundaries using VicRoads Country Street Directory as a base. The descriptions and/or map were then transcribed by AAV Staff and a written boundary description produced. The boundaries have been approved by the RAP applicant and the Heritage Council prior to the RAP applicant being registered.
